Young Surgeons Skills Bootcamp

Title: Carpal Tunnel Release and Trigger Finger Release using Ultrasound Guidance

Date and Time: Tuesday, October 3, 7:00AM-6:00PM

Location: 716AB, 700 Level, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, South Building

Faculty: Dr. Jay Smith, Dr. Darryl Barnes

Description: This is a full day lab course for hand/upper extremity fellows, matched residents and recently graduated fellows (under 3) for skills in trauma and soft tissue. Half of the day is dedicated to bone and joint trauma of the hand, wrist and elbow. The other half of the day explores soft tissue problems of nerve trauma, endoscopic and minimally invasive nerve releases and Dupuytren’s contracture. Expert hand surgeon faculty will demonstrate indications and technical pearls and pitfalls. Participants will have abundant hands-on lab time to practice techniques with the faculty circulating the room to answer questions.

Surgical Suite

Title: Hands-On Cadaveric Surgical Skills Lab: Carpal Tunnel Release and Trigger Finger Release using Ultrasound Guidance

Date and Time: Thursday, October 5, 7:30AM-9:00AM

Location: Surgical Suite B, Solutions Center, Exhibit Hall E, 800 Level, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, South Building

Faculty: Dr. Jay Smith, Dr. Darryl Barnes

Description: Surgical skills lab featuring live cadaveric demonstrations of carpal tunnel release (CTR) and trigger finger release (TFR) using ultrasound guidance. Includes a sonographic overview of hand and wrist anatomy followed by hands-on procedure demonstrations using UltraGuideCTR™ and UltraGuideTFR™ with real-time ultrasound guidance.

Please note: This lab is designed for United States based hand surgeons with two years of experience in practice. These devices are not approved for use outside the United States.

Title: Live CTR & TFR Procedures + Discussion on Integrating MSK Ultrasound into Your Hand Surgery Practice

Date and Time: Thursday, October 5, 11:30AM-12:30PM

Location: Metro Toronto Convention Centre, South Building

Faculty: Dr. Jay Smith, Dr. Darryl Barnes

Description: Watch LIVE cadaveric demonstrations of carpal tunnel release (CTR) and trigger finger release (TFR) using ultrasound guidance. Procedures will be followed by a peer discussion on the benefits of integrating MSK ultrasound into a hand surgery practice.

In Booth Cadaver Lab
1:1 Sessions

Date and Time: Wednesday, October 4, 4:30PM-7:30PM, Thursday, October 5, 7:30AM-5:00PM, and Friday, October 6, 8:00AM-4:00PM

Location: Booth 939

Description: 1-hour long cadaver Lab 1:1 sessions at the booth. We will have two cadaver labs at our booth so sign up for either lab A or Lab B for either time slot. If you would like to be an alternate, include your name and contact information with what time you would be able to be an alternate for a 1:1 session.

Dr. Jay Smith will be preforming live demonstrations at the Sonex Health booth, #939, on Wednesday from 5:30PM- 6:30PM, and on Friday from 12:00PM-1:00PM
